Visiting Philly

PhillyWhen you sign up for the RunSignUp Race Director and Timer Symposium, remember to leave a little time to explore this fun city (and maybe bring a friend along with you)! Here is a list of some of the fun things to do, or download this Welcome to Philadelphia Guide.

If you are into art, we’ve got it for you at Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Museum, the Rodin Museum, and many muttermore along the Ben Franklin Parkway (pictured at the right).

Into Science? How about the Ben Franklin Institute (great for kids) or Mutter Museum (caution – this has a lot of skeletons not even in the closet!).

Independence HallWe’ve also got some history for you in Philadelphia. The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center, the Betsy Ross House.

Maybe you need a bit of help navigating all the choices – check out Philadelphia Urban Adventures for one of their guided tours – on foot, Segway, car – they’ve got you covered.

philly-mural-artsIf you are more of a free spirit, one of our favorite things to do is explore the hundreds of Mural Art projects in the city.

And don’t “fugeddabout” the food! From Philly Cheesesteaks to cool BYOB’s to outdoor dining on Rittenhouse Square or Washington Square or one of the cool neighborhood restaurants in Northern Liberties or Fairmont near the Art Museum.

And since we are all runners – here are some of our favorite running routes:

WhissahickonSchuykill River Loop – from the Art Museum – a classic loop included in many of Philadelphia’s hometown races.
Belmont Plateau – Our city’s home Cross Country course and part of beautiful Fairmont Park.
Wissahickon Park – Another beautiful park that runs along a gorge with the Wissahickon Creek gurgling by.

We hope you have a chance to explore our fun city while you are in town for our Race Director and Timer Symposium!
