RunSignUp Founder Bob Bickel said, “Our Annual Symposium is a unique opportunity for our team of developers and customer support professionals to meet face to face with many of the customers they serve. It’s a synergistic event: customers provide us with invaluable feedback about our system and our future plans, and we offer them training and best practices.” The 2018 event kicked off with an Opening Reception on Monday, followed by a full day of RunSignUp tutorials and industry-led presentations on Tuesday, including:
- Industry-led sessions by Gary Kutscher (OC Marathon), Mark Harris (Adventure Enablers), Matt Montgomery (3 Way Racing), Brad McCleary (Bodies Race Franchise), Andy Reilly (Eventgrow), and Ryan Callahan (Runhouse)
- 15 tutorial sessions by the RunSignUp team, on topics including Marketing, RaceDay tools, CRM, RaceJoy, Payment Accounts, and Fundraising
The buzz around the event centered on the platform’s robust suite of marketing tools, expanding CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system, and RaceDay Scoring, the next generation timing software currently in Beta. Chris Tomlinson, the Vice President of Marketing at Corrigan Sports Enterprises, said about RunSignUp’s CRM, “We are really excited about the changes that RunSignUp is adding with CRM tools. Being able to see a snapshot of the history of our runners and what they’ve done with our races in the past will really help us to provide participants with customized customer service.”
Erik Young, Co-Founder of Sour Fish Events, expounded on his enthusiasm for RunSignUp’s marketing tools, explaining, “Nowadays, when you’re doing online social media marketing and referral marketing, you want to see what’s working and what’s not. RunSignUp makes it easy to A) enable tracking, and B) actually track returns. With 90% of our advertising budget spent on Facebook/Instagram marketing, analytics are important.”
The Symposium closed out on Wednesday with Timer Day, a series of sessions on timing software and hardware options for timers. The day kicked off with a demonstration of RaceDay Scoring and a discussion of the future of timing software, and was followed by interactive presentations on The Race Director, RunScore, Agee Race Timing, race result, MYLAPS, ChronoTrack/Athlinks, and Trident RFID.
