More races are offering to help guide their runners with training plans. RunSignUp has partnered with Final Surge (www.finalsurge.com) to bring Automated, pre-packaged training plan sales (typically $19.95-29.95 per runners) to the race registration process. With a few clicks of the mouse, race directors can now enable training plan sales and give their registrants the option to purchase a plan for the race distance they have signed up for. Best of all, race directors get 20% of each training plan sale, increasing their overall revenue for the event.
Final Surge is an online training log used by thousands of athletes, coaches, clubs and teams around the world. In addition to their web-based log and mobile apps, they sell training plans created by some of the top coaches in the country such as Hanson’s Coaching Services and Jeff Galloway Training. When a plan is purchased, it is loaded into the athlete’s online training calendar so they can view and record their workouts while preparing for their upcoming race. In addition, athletes will receive nightly emails of their upcoming workouts and can import Garmin and other GPS device files into their training log for analysis.
As a race director, you get to choose which plans you want to sell for each race distance. Final Surge provides training plans of all levels and abilities. From the first time 5k finisher to the Boston Marathon qualifier, we have a plan to fit the needs of your participants.
Enabling training plan sales in your race registration process is easy. To start, click on “Go Race Day” and select “Tech Partners”. From the Tech Partners menu, choose “Setup”.
On the Setup page, scroll down to Training Plans by Final Surge and check the box next to “Enable this Partner”.
Once you have enabled Training Plan sales, you will have the chance to view all of the different plans Final Surge has to offer. Simply click the “View Sample Plans” button to view each plan and see sample weeks of training.
For each plan sold, Final Surge will send you 20% of the sale. Fill in your payment information here so that Final Surge knows where to send your revenue share and how to brand the training plan sales page.
Finally, select which plans you want to sell for each distance. You can check the box next to each race distance name in the blue heading to choose all plans for that distance. Once you have selected the plans, check the box next to each of the events that you want to enable plan sales for. After you have selected one or more of your events, click the “Save Technology Partner Settings” button at the bottom of the page to complete the process.
You have now successfully enabled training plan sales for your event! Now let’s take a look at what your race participants will see when signing up for your event. We’ve worked to make the training plan selection process seamless, fitting right into the normal flow of your race registration.
When a registrant gets to the training plan selection page, they will see all of the plans you have enabled listed out by distance. The user can then click the Preview button to view the details of the plan and see a sample week of training, or they can click Add to Cart button to select the plan.
The training plan details page describes the goals and philosophy of the plan, discusses weekly mileage and number of runs per week, and also shows a sample week of training.
Once they have selected a plan and are ready to finish their registration, the registrant will simply click the “Continue” button at the bottom of the screen and proceed to checkout. The user can always bypass selecting a training plan by clicking the same “Continue” button without selecting a plan.
Once the user completes their race registration, they will receive an email from Final Surge detailing how to unlock their training plan and start training for your upcoming race.
The link takes them to a page where they unlock their training plan:
Once their training plan is unlocked, then they have the full power of Final Surge and the training plan to guide them, log their miles, connect with their various devices and tracking software, etc.
Race Directors can keep track of their Final Surge revenue on their RunSignUp Summary Financials, as well as see their 20% revenue share in the Final Surge website.
