Social Share Update

We have updated the Social Sharing on each race website. We used to use a third party widget from AddThis which was pretty generic and not very powerful and had performance issues. We have replaced this with the new social sharing functions we developed as part of the Enhanced Facebook Sharing as part of the Referral Project.

The sharing buttons are where they have always been on the lower right of the race page header (circled in Red):

When visitors click on the Facebook Share icon, you now get the nice Facebook Share popup to pick friends:

The other big advantage to being able to being able to share with specific friends is the Facebook post will include the image you can set in the Social Sharing section (This shows the Large version that is 1200X630 that you can upload to RunSignUp and is used in the post on Facebook):

And this look great on Mobile as well:

Twitter also looks nice and automatically creates a link to the race (remember you can set your own URL instead of RunSignUp’s link appearing in the Social Settings):
