RaceJoy’s Map Building Tool Made Easier

In preparation for the RunSignup RaceDay Timer certification program, our team of developers has enhanced RaceJoy’s map building tool to ensure it is easy to self-manage by timers. More than 200 timers will be certified on RaceJoy by the end of January, 2019. Certified RaceDay Timers are able to offer RaceJoy as an add-on service to events and the adjustments to the map building tools enables timers to independently set up and manage the race event course maps for real-time tracking and cheer sending in RaceJoy.

Part of the service timers will be offering with RaceJoy is the loading of course maps, setting up mile markers, and customizing the maps as needed. They are also responsible for setting up timing configurations for the progress alerts that typically are sent at every mile along the course. These are similar to the traditional Bib tag tracking system, but instead of putting out timing equipment, timers simply set up the milestones in the map builder.

Many of the things that happen behind the scenes to support the race day experience in RaceJoy will now be performed by the timers who have undergone the RaceDay Timer certification program.

Timers access the RaceJoy map building tool through their RunSignup dashboard.

The import feature for KML and GPX course maps has been simplified and now requires just a couple clicks.

Timers can review the overall course map(s), course timing points and other markers in a browser before making the event live using the new Preview/Share button.

And, once the map has been marked as certified, the timers control when the event goes live in RaceJoy for participants and spectators to access.

In an effort to provide support to the timers and race events using RaceJoy, we have also released a new map building how-to video. You can watch it by clicking here.
