Sales Tax and Processing Fees

As we begin to roll out Sales Tax automation, we are making a number of detailed changes that will affect how sales taxes and processing fees are calculated.

The first change that will be rolled out in the next week or so is calculating processing fees on the actual sales tax calculation. This will be done by estimating the sales tax, then adding that to the total of the taxable transaction so that the processing fee can be calculated. Note the processing fee is taxable in some states, which in turn can increase the sales tax.

The second change is that we will be calculating the base RunSignup processing fee on the total transaction including both sales tax and extra processing fees. Extra processing fees are those fees that a race or a timer may charge above the base RunSignup fee for their services. This calculation is made net of any partner revenue share.
