The RunSignup Symposium Prepares to Take Over Reading Terminal Market!

We kick off each RunSignup Symposium with a social event (included in all Symposium registrations) to allow attendees to gather and relax. Attendees of this year’s conference will get a truly unique Philadelphia experience!

On July 15th, we’ll be heading to Reading Terminal Market for a private grazing dinner from local vendors, amidst a fully functioning market in the heart of the city. Bonus: the market is just a block from the host hotel – you can see it from many of the guest rooms!

Reading Terminal Market opened in 1893 as a hub of merchant activity supported by a vibrant railroad station. Although business fluctuated over the years and the viability of the market was called into question when the Reading railroad ceased to exist in 1976, the market has made a resurgence in recent years and is a staple of life in the city.

Today, more than 75 independent small businesses operate in the market. The crowds that flock to the building daily have dual purposes – the market exists both as a collection of some of the city’s best producers of prepared foods and lunch-counter meals, and as a grocery stop for locals to find produce, meats, cheeses and other staples. In 2019, it was named the country’s Best Farmer’s Market and it continues to draw more than 100,000 people each week.

If you stop by the market on any given day, you’ll find long lines and thick crowds – but after the hordes dissipate on July 15th, the Market will open exclusively for attendees of the RunSignup Symposium.

While we network and socialize in center court, a handful of iconic vendors will stay open to serve miniature versions of their classic dishes. Grab a few, and graze your way through dinner!

Due to the opening hours of the market, this year’s reception is a little later than usual (7:00pm-10:00pm) – perfect to accommodate early evening arrivals! Savory selections (including vegetarian and vegan options) will be available from 7:00-8:30, with dessert options from 8:30-10:00, so don’t be late!
